I grew up in Dubai, surrounded by fashion and the world of hairdressing. My Mother, a fashion designer and hairdresser, has always been a constant source of inspiration, allowing me to explore creative pathways and discover the world of hairdressing viewing hair as a mouldable fabric.
My career in hairdressing began in Dubai where I trained and worked as a barber, working in my own salon, establishing my own name. Despite the success of this venture, I was constantly craving something more creative and fashion focused which led to my move to London where I started my career as a session stylist and creative consultant.
In London, I began working with Vidal Sassoon and later I joined Toni&Guy to became an educator working at the Academy. Whilst at the academy I started to participate in shows including Salon International, the Alternative Hair show and Mondial Coiffure Beauté. All of which provided a platform to showcase my work to a wider audience.
Today I work between the salon and the session world travelling extensively to New York, Paris, Milan, LA, Moscow, Eastern Europe, and Dubai working on fashion shows, education seminars and industry events. My clients include Dior, Chanel, Gucci, Fendi, Burberry, Versace and Prada as well as a bounty of exciting young designers. I also work at the BBC on a weekly basis as live television is another outlet and arena to work creatively.
In addition to my session work, I have collaborated on fashion editorials gracing the pages of international magazines such as Vogue, GQ, Elle, Maire Claire and Numéro. I have also been a consultant on campaigns ranging from Versace to Gucci and Prada.
This relationship I have with the fashion world fuels my artistic vision for my own creative work. My approach is unique in that I work with challenging ideas and I manifest these into hair.
Being a Creative to me implies a constant search and desire to create new frontiers with hair. Being receptive to stimuli all around me means I can create freely using hair as my means of expression.
